As I moved
through that initial year of training and racing I learned much about
goal-setting, commitment, managing myself through the highs and lows of a
long-term process, perseverance, adaptability and mental toughness. I began to
clearly understand and experience the powerful connection between
physical fitness and career success, and the executives I was coaching wanted
to know more about how what I was learning could help them with the many
challenges they were facing in their demanding jobs.
So this
blog – “Lessons Learned on the Road to Kona” was born – Kona, Hawaii, the site of the Ironman World Championships, being the
ultimate goal for an Ironman triathlete. And now many Ironman races and clients
later, I approach my leadership work exclusively from an athlete’s mentality –
using new ways of thinking that inspire, motivate and engage, propelling
leaders and their teams to take their performance to the next level. Through my
signature program “At The Top Your Game”™, I
integrate the mental strategies, behaviors and values of accomplished athletes
and extraordinary leaders.
This is an
amazing journey we are all on to become more effective leaders and individuals.
I hope you will check back here often for more “Lessons Learned” and share your own experiences with this blog’s
many readers.
